Accountability

Governance, controls and how to hold us to account

Our principles for responsible administration, confidentiality, accountability and ethical commercial relationships.

Framework

Governance framework

The framework reflects our commitment to responsible operations, confidentiality and accountable decision-making.

Structure

The ICSE South Africa chapter provides defined member, staff and administrator responsibilities for managing applications, private submissions and commercial enquiries. Corporate governance, national leadership and formal appointments are administered under applicable South African law.

Conflict of interest

Participants in commercial decisions are expected to disclose material conflicts of interest and avoid decisions in which their impartiality may reasonably be questioned.

Financial control

Financial commitments and project expenditure should be subject to appropriate written approvals, accountable record keeping and applicable legal requirements.

Safeguarding and conduct

Our Code of Conduct promotes respectful treatment, fairness, integrity and responsible handling of relationships between members, advisers and partners.

Data protection

Membership applications, contact enquiries and partnership enquiries are held in a restricted system. Applicant information is visible only to the applicant and to authorised secretariat staff. Access is enforced at the database level, not only in the interface. Data is retained for as long as needed to administer membership and is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

Complaints

Questions or concerns may be sent through the published contact channels for responsible review and appropriate follow-up.

Two layers

Corporate governance and network governance

National legal responsibilities are distinct from shared ICSE Africa standards and cross-border commercial relationships.

ICSE South Africa corporate governance

  • National company affairs and constitutional documents
  • Board governance and appointment of the executive
  • Management, budgets and South African operations
  • Local projects, contracts and commercial decisions
  • Shareholder matters and financial performance

PACBN network governance

  • Network identity and brand stewardship
  • Strategic alignment with the continental economic mission
  • Common standards, ethics and the integrity framework
  • Continental protocols and cross-border coordination
  • Network oversight, reporting and response to serious breaches

National responsibilities and continental standards complement one another through ethical business practices and responsible commercial relationships.
